I enjoy talking with people — friends and strangers alike.
For me, opening the vocal door to a conversation provides a form of connection that seems to be missing in so many of our lives.
Unfortunately, too many people have chosen to exist in a self-protective cocoon that separates them from distractions of any kind. Perhaps they feel a sense of shelter and safety in their virtual seclusion.
The result? Finding others to verbally engage with isn’t always a simple task.
In the current social climate, our hands-off tech-savvy culture has propagated a disturbing mindset — one that permeates the most basic of human instincts.
What am I talking about?
In my opinion, most folks would rather lock their eyes on a screen, peck at a keyboard, and hit “send” than consider looking another person in the eyes.
While some forms of written communication — email, text, posting on a roulette wheel of social media platforms — have a place and purpose in our modern world, those options often produce a level of disconnect that can create confusion, misunderstandings, or unintended omissions.
