A Gut-Wrenching Forecast of Humanity’s Irresponsible and Selfish Behavior
Will anyone be left to tell the story?
Here’s an eye-opening and heart-wrenching tale of humanity’s irresponsible and selfish behavior - and the devastating effects on our planet …
“Concentrations of carbon dioxide reached a new global high in 2020, at 413.2 parts per million, or 149 percent of the pre-industrial level. And data shows these levels continued to increase in 2021 and early 2022. Global mean sea level has been rising on average 4.5 millimeters per year, and in 2021 sea levels rose to the highest they’ve been in modern history.” — MSN.com
“So that’s what they look like …”
Harold’s voice startled me. Neither of us had ever seen one before. Not that we hadn’t heard the rumors and myths — the unbelievable tales.
Until this moment, Harold had always been a doubter — stubbornly holding out that the unproven stories never held any truth.
“Legend has it they went extinct,” I replied. “Evaporated from existence … the consequences of, well, let’s just say an unnecessary cascade of disastrous circumstances.”
“It’s pitiful, disgusting. And the smell …” Harold winced, his words trailing off as if trying to spare me the reality of the stench accosting my nostrils.
“My great-great-grandspirit told me the tale,” I continued. “She’d heard it from her elders, and they from the ancients before them.”
We watched as a disheveled form paced in circles around the tiny cell that held it captive.
The being was skittish, cowering at the slightest noise— a broomstick of a creature shifting from side to side in unnerving restlessness. We stared through the gloom, our gaze returned by a distorted face with sunken eyes, shriveled flesh, and lips pulled tight in a permanent grimace as if frozen in constant agony.
Harold and I did our best to remain still. Being in its presence felt surreal, and disturbing. But we had to know. We’d come too far, having walked to the farthest reaches of the facility to see for ourselves — to try and understand the reasons that had resulted in such a despicable display.
